1:1 Behaviour Support
Initial Package - £200
One-Off Session - £70
Are you feeling really overwhelmed, frustrated and stressed with your dog’s behaviour? We know how difficult it can be to live with a dog when their behaviour is impacting our relationship with them. Please don’t feel alone as we have been there too. Yes! Susan went through this with one of her own rescue dogs and it was extremely hard. From living with dogs of all ages and having to raise our own puppies too, we really do understand.
It is scary to feel alone, especially in today’s world where there is easy access to an abundance of conflicting advice. This makes it so much harder for you and your dog. However, by choosing Tail Talk to help you through this, you will be looked after and guided the right way, backed up with years of knowledge, practical experience and qualifications. We can offer supportive advice, using the depth of knowledge we have gained from decades of working with a large number of puppies and dogs – all displaying a huge range of behaviours.
If your dogs are struggling with fear, anxiety, reactivity or are worrying you with aggression towards humans or other dogs, we are here to give you the help you need to move towards a happier relationship with your dog. You can be confident in our abilities when working with dogs displaying such behaviours, as Susan has been helping dogs in the same or similar situations for the last 3 decades.
In Susan’s previous role as Dog Welfare Manager, she had many years of successfully rehabilitating, rehoming and helping both the dogs and their new guardians settle into their new life and home. She has also been working with and continuing to enjoy successful outcomes with hundreds of dogs with behavioural issues in her current role since 2010. This is no doubt why Tail Talk are trusted by many of the veterinary practices in both Moray and the Highlands to help with their clients’ dogs. You can trust us to help and guide you to find the best way forward for your individual situation.
All our protocols are science-based and free from painful, forceful or punitive methods. We get positive results and use strategies to make changes in your dog’s behaviour for the long term. We work with you as a team, and we will guide you the very best that we can. If you need help now, then you are in the right place. We will work together so you understand them better and help to teach them more of the behaviours you would like to see.
How It All Works and Package Content
After our initial phone conversation, we will book you in for your first of three in-person sessions.
A £50 deposit is payable at this stage to secure the first appointment.
First Session
We will initially talk through your dog’s behaviour that is causing you concern. We can then meet your dog in their own environment and observe them for part of our visit if this suits you. We will leave you with some strategies for you to get going with as a starting point.
The balance of the package is payable 14 days before this visit, or immediately if your appointment is less than 14 days.
Remaining Sessions
This is where we start to work through practical lessons with your dog. We will set up the best environment for them to learn in, and look at how best to help them with the things they are finding hard to live with. When it is suitable, we will firstly demonstrate with your dog and then guide and coach you to try it with them yourself under our supervision.
We recommend behaviour sessions to be either every two to three weeks, as this gives you time to put suggestions in place before we progress further.
We will send a short action plan after each session, tailored to your individual needs. If required, handouts and videos to go alongside your plan will also be provided. Feedback on your progress will be given in-between sessions to keep you on track using either WhatsApp videos, email, or by phone.
Note: If you were referred to Tail Talk by your vet, please let us know and we will send them a letter regarding your dog’s progress.
Follow-Up Sessions
These will be available at £50 per hour to add onto your personalised package if needed and/or when you feel you would like more in-person support.
For four weeks after this, further support is provided either by phone or video assessment so that we can discuss your progress. We want to ensure that you are happy with how everything is going. After this four-week period, we will have a further phone call to discuss progress and if any other in-person sessions are required.
The package must be completed within a 3 month period. Sessions not taken within this time will be lost.
When you are ready to book a 1:1 Behaviour Support package, we would ask that you fill in our Behaviour Support Questionnaire. Once we have received your questionnaire, we will contact you to arrange a free 20 minute consultation phone call.
